Nettles Infusion

Mineral Rich Tea

Nettles are packed with essential minerals like iron, calcium, and magnesium, making this infusion a deeply replenishing herbal drink. It’s easy to prepare, requires minimal effort, and can be enjoyed daily for a natural boost in vitality.

Learning how to make this simple yet powerful drink was one of the greatest gifts of knowledge, and I’ll forever be grateful for it. A big thank you to my friend Lauren for introducing me to nettle infusions—cheers to sharing nourishing recipes with friends and family!

Mineral-Rich Nettles Infusion

A mineral-rich, deeply nourishing herbal tea made by steeping dried stinging nettles in hot water for several hours.
Prep Time1 minute
Steep Time4 hours

Ingredients

  • 1 cup stinging nettles herb
  • 1 quart boiling water *

Instructions

  • Steep Tea: Add the dried nettles to a glass mason jar, then pour in the hot water.
  • Cover & Infuse: Secure the lid and let it steep at room temperature for 4-12 hours (overnight works best).
  • Strain & Enjoy: Use a cheesecloth or metal strainer to strain the infusion into a cup or another jar.
  • Reuse: You can re-steep the same nettles up to two more times before composting.

Notes

*You shouldn't boil water too hot when making infusion tea because using water that is too hot can "burn" the tea leaves, extracting too many bitter tannins and ruining the delicate flavor profile
Drink infusion within 24 hours of making. Or put in the fridge to last up to 48 hours.

Nutrition Facts

Per Quart

Key Nutrients:

  • Calcium: 50–100 mg
  • Iron: 1–2 mg
  • Magnesium: 3–7 mg
  • Potassium: 20–40 mg

Keep in mind that these numbers are rough estimates. The actual nutrient content depends on factors like the quality of the dried nettles, their exact weight, and the steeping time, as water won’t extract every nutrient completely. For precise values, laboratory analysis of your specific infusion would be needed.
